Australia has a quasi-regulatory system for alcohol advertising: guidelines for advertising have been negotiated with government, consumer complaints are handled independently, but all costs are borne by industry.
The Alcohol Beverages Advertising Code (ABAC) Scheme is the centrepiece of Australia’s quasi-regulatory system and is administered by a Management Committee which includes industry, advertising and government representatives.
Alcohol Advertising Pre-vetting Service
The Alcohol Advertising Pre-vetting Service (AAPS) has a new Approval Form and a new contact telephone number. Advertisers can now find contact details for the pre-vetter on duty by calling (08) 8411 2158.
AAPS fees have increased from 1 July 2012. More information about the fee increase and the Alcohol Advertising Pre-vetting Service can be found in the "For Advertisers" part of this website.
